Our School
Wichita High School East, the oldest high school in Wichita, is the direct descendent of the original Wichita High School. It was renamed Wichita High School East in 1929 when Wichita High School North opened. As the largest high school in Kansas, our diverse student population (socio-economic, racial, cultural and academic) creates a safe and accepting learning environment for all students.
Our academic programs are the best in the city and include our nationally recognized AVID and International Baccalaureate Programs. In addition, we offer a huge selection of concurrent college credit courses as well as honors, Advanced Placement, and Career and Technical Education courses. Many of our students have earned National Merit Finalist distinction. And finally, East has outstanding traditions within our fine arts and athletic programs, which are a testament to our staff and students, and a source of great student, staff, parent and community pride.
