OVERVIEW

TWO COURSES are offered in our Graphic Arts program at East High. An overview of courses offered is shown below.

GRAPHIC ARTS 1:  Students learn about basic printing processes such as lithography, screen printing, letterpress, and gravure printing methods.  Desktop publishing is also taught on the personal computer. Students study printing design as it applies to commercial forms, small booklets, an stationery.  They study, learn, and use safety rules in all activities.  students also study paper and ink technology and are  introduced to career opportunities in the printing industry.  PhotoShop and InDesign usage is an integral part of this course.

GRAPHIC ARTS 2:  Students extend work begun in Graphic Arts 1 to include developing proficiency in various printing trade skills, i.e., Desk Top Publishing.  Students will study design elements which apply to paper and ink selection and will advance in their studies of color, balance, and proportion.  Students study, learn and use safety rules in all activities.
