OVERVIEW
FIVE COURSES are offered in our
CAD/D Drafting program at East High. An overview of courses offered is
shown below.
CONSUMER DRAFTING: In this course, students learn basic drafting
principles. Students complete sketches, pictorial, three-view, sectional
drawings with exploration in to house plans and structural designing. Other
areas covered are careers, reading blueprints and enlarging and reducing
drawings as it pertains to the world today.
INTRODUCTION TO TECHNOLOGY/CAD: This course covers career
information, lettering, use of drafting instruments, geometric
constructions, dimensioning, freehand sketching, single and multi-view
drawings, sectioning, exposure to architectural and working drawings, along
with an introduction to CAD/D (Computer Aided Design/Drafting). It is a
course for students with an interest in engineering, architecture any other
drafting or mechanical drawing related career.
ENGINEERING DESIGN AND CAD: This course covers auxiliary views.
pattern development, fasteners, cams, gears, intersections, revolutions,
charts and graphs, exploded views, assembly and working drawings used in
mechanical and engineering drawings. Each pupil will receive a minimum of
twenty hours of CAD/D drafting experience. AutoCAD 2005 usage is an integral
part of this course.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND CAD: The Architectural Design and CAD course
is designed to prepare students for advanced studies or post-high school
training and/or job placement. Areas covered are surveying, mapping,
descriptive geometry, architectural drawing and designing. Each pupil will
receive a minimum of fifty hours of CAD/D experience.
ADVANCED ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND CAD:
Students who are pursuing advanced studies or post high school training and
/or job placement will benefit. The course covers advanced residential and
commercial architectural drawing and design. Each student will have a
minimum of one-hundred hours of Computer Aided Design/Drafting experience
using AutoCAD Architectural Desktop.
