Sheet Metal Workers
Taught by Don Vaughn Inc.

Sheet metal workers cut and mold sheets of metal into products used for installing and repairing ventilation and air ducts. They also construct aluminum siding, metal roofing, and gutters. These workers must have knowledge of mathematics, blueprint reading, and drafting. They must be able to use hand and power tools such as brakes, plasma cutters, shears, snips and training. Wages range from $7 to $22 per hour.

 

HVAC Technicians
Taught by Don Vaughn Inc.

HVAC technicians install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. These systems allow people to control the air temperature, humidity, and pressure inside structures. Different kinds of HVAC systems include furnaces, air conditioners, chillers, and boilers. Technicians can specialize within the trade. HVAC technicians must be able to understand the operating principals of different systems and to interpret written specifications. Wages range from $7 to $26 per hour.

 

Plumbers
Taught by Don Vaughn Inc.
Plumbers install piping systems that distribute water and remove waste from buildings. These systems include those connected to washers, bathtubs, sinks, toilets, and heating and cooling systems. Plumbers must know about water distribution, including how to determine the source of water flow and its anticipated water pressure level. They should be familiar with blueprint reading, local ordinances or regulations, mathematics, mechanical drawing, physics, welding and soldering. Wages range from $7 to $22 per hour.
 

Pipe Fitters
Taught by Don Vaughn Inc.
Pipe fitters design and install various piping systems in most industrial and commercial structures. The types of piping systems include hot water, sprinkling, air, lubricating, and heating and cooling. Pipe fitters work with different piping materials and installation tools. They must know state and local regulations regarding their work. Pipe fitters generally learn their trade through craft and apprenticeship programs, whit last about five years. These programs include classroom training and on the job training. Wages range from $7 to $26 per hour.
 

Roofers
Taught by Buckley Roofing Co.
Roofers have many leadership opportunities with and average of 5 to 1 ratios of crewmembers to foreman. Technological advancements in materials and methods have dramatically improved working conditions. Most products install without the use of hot asphalt making working conditions safe and clear. Projects are generally short in duration and offer immediate satisfaction on a job well done. Wages range from $7 to $18 per hour.
 

Carpenters
Carpenters are responsible for cutting, fitting and assembling wood and other building materials. Carpenters construct frames and foundations for structures, install trim, construct cabinets and maintain and repair structures. They read blueprints, use various tools and have good communication skills. Wages range from $7 to $22 per hour.
 

Bricklayers
Taught by Conco Inc. and Eby Construction
The Bricklayers are responsible for constructing walls of brick, block, or panels by laying the materials on a structure’s footing. Bricklaying work is labor intensive and requires dedication and patience. Wages range from $7 to $23 per hour.
 

Cement Masonry and Form Carpentry
Taught by Conco Inc. and Utility Contractors
Masons have the ability to level, smooth and shape freshly poured concrete surfaces from patios and basements to walls, dams, foundations and highways. One method of building these things are concrete forms. Masonry work is labor intensive and requires dedication and patience. Wages range $7 to $21 per hour. Taught by Conco Inc. and Utility Contractors.


Heavy Equipment Operators
Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for the transporting, operating, installation and maintenance of heavy machinery such as rigging devices, hoists and jacks. They operate forklifts, doers, backhoes, loaders and cranes. Operators solve complex problems using basic math and trigonometry to calculate safe loading and working capacity. Wages range from $20 and up per hour.
 

Electricians
Taught by Ziegler Electric
Electricians layout, install and test electrical service and wire systems that provide heat, light, power, air conditioning and refrigeration, fire alarms, and security systems. They install conduit and connect electrical machinery, equipment, controls and transmission systems. Wages range from $7 to $25 per hour.
 

Glaziers
Taught by Lewis Street Glass

Glazing involves the process of cutting glass, edging glass, fabricating aluminum storefront frames. The need for energy efficient products and esthetic appeal make for a diverse number of products to identify and understand. Wages range from $7 to $22 per hour.
 

Iron Workers
Taught by Carl Harris Construction
Iron Workers specialize in working in structural, ornamental or reinforcing structures. The Ironworkers responsibilities include the installation of large girders and beams on buildings and bridges, installing pre-constructed materials on elevators, stairways and balconies. Ironworkers communicate well and are able to solve complex problems. Wages range from $7 to $24 per hour.
 

Metal Buildings
Taught by Smith Construction
Metal buildings are pre-engineered steel structure that assemble fairly quickly. Skills needed for assembly include good teamwork skills, crane operating, and good communication skills. Metal building systems are used in a wide variety of structures, and are combined with masonry, glass, and wood to create a more attractive building.
