About AP

AP stands for "Advanced Placement" and is a widely accepted way of measuring proficiency in certain classes.  To demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the topic, each student is required to take a standardized test in May.  The tests are then graded and scored on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best.

Below are a few of the nearby schools and their policies concerning scoring on the AP US History Exam and the credit policies they offer.  Obviously, these are subject to change.  As one can see, even a fairly average score of 3 on the AP test still nets several hours of college credit, which could end up saving students potentially hundreds of dollars in the long run.

Wichita State University: offers 6hrs. History 131 and 132 for a score of 3 on the AP test, and 8 hrs History 131 and 132 for a score of 4 on the AP test.

Kansas University offers 3 credit hours for History 128 or 129 for a score of 4 or 5 on the AP test.

Kansas State University offers 3 credit hours in differing subjects for a 5, a 4, or a 3 on the AP test.

Washburn University offers 3 hours of History 111 and 112 for a score of 4 and 6 hours of History 111 and 112 for a score of 5.
