Wichita High School East has a long history of excellence in athletics. The
Wichita High School East Sports Hall of Fame was established in 2004 to
recognize individuals and teams excelling in athletics while at East or after
graduating. The Hall of Fame display is located in the foyer of the East
gymnasium. Congratulations to all inductees!

Nomination Information
Any citizen may nominate any individual with East High ties, living or
deceased, to be considered for induction into the East High Sports Hall of Fame.
Eligibility
Individuals nominated for selection to the East Sports Hall of Fame must
meet one of the following criteria:
- Individuals from East High that achieved excellence through sports at
East.
- Individuals from East that achieved excellence through sports after
graduation from East.
- Individuals that didn’t attend East, but made significant contributions
to East High Sports.
- Up to seven individuals and one team may be elected every year.
Nominees
Nominees can be any of the following:
- ATHLETES. Players who played at East High School.
- COACHES. Former East High Coaches and former East High students
who went on to coach. Nominees must no longer be involved in coaching.
- TEAM. Any East High School sports team that brought distinction
and honor to East is eligible for induction.
- CONTRIBUTOR. A contributor being placed in nomination must have
improved with special distinction East High School sports.
Nominations
Nominations may be made September 1st through November 30th each year.
Nominations must be submitted via our online form,
or they can be typed or printed legibly using the
printable nomination form provided by the
East High School Sports Hall of Fame and returned to East no later than November
30th of each year. Nomination forms can be reproduced by computer. Attachments
may also be included and can be letters of support, newspaper or magazine
articles, or documents directly related to the nominee’s sports achievements and
character.
Voting
Nominees will be voted on by the Board of Directors of the East High Sports Hall
of Fame. No fewer than one, but not more than seven nominees receiving the most
total votes will be elected by the Board of Directors. Each board member shall
be able to vote for up to seven inductees and one team per year. A nominee to be
elected must receive 50 percent or a majority of the votes of the Board of
Directors present at voting meeting. Induction ceremonies will be held early in
each year.
The Board of Directors of the East High School Sports Hall of Fame is
responsible to oversee that nominations and voting are done in a fair manner.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is comprised of three permanent members and four
appointed members. The permanent members are the Principal and Athletic Director
of East High School, and the district athletic director of the Wichita Public
Schools.
